GNO Bookclub

I have been reading several books lately, including Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallow by JK Rowling  (10), Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger (same author as Time Travelers Wife...not as good but a 7), Kansas Troubles by Earlene Fowler...for GNO (6); and the Outlander by Diane Gabaldon..#1 of 6 or 7, all of which I think I shall have to read (10) Thank You Sara!!!!
But now I have GNO Bookclub next (3 days from now) Wednesday night at Kelli's and I have just started the book "The Alchemist" by.....Paulo Coelho. Quote from book: "There is a language in the world that everyone understands. It is the language of enthusiasm, of things accomplished with love and purpose, and as part of a search for something believed in and desired."   "When you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it."

Anyway it is very good so far.

Also reading Oprah Winfrey's O magazine from November (got to get it back to the library!!!!) But anyway several great articles I must remember..not sure how but one by Mary Karr whom I may become a big fan of. Newest book for her is called  Lit. Don't know if I want to read it first or start with her first book The Liars' Club....I'll have to think about it.
Also an amazing article and interview with Susan Klebold, the mother of Dylan Klebold (of the Columbine Massacre). Very moving and thought provoking.

Firsties

That is what we had at the First Christian Church this morning. This was the first Sunday of the new configuration. It is wonderful. The seats are very comfy, I am getting used to all the technology, music beautiful, and I was sitting between two of my children (Tessa and Dakota). I felt right at home...I was even setting in the same place I have set for the last 20 years...just facing a different direction. Sometimes I think it is important to go another direction even if your foundation is the same.

Topic for this morning besides "Firsties" was the Advent Conspiracy. www.adventconspiracy.org
which is a different (actually the original) way of looking at the Christmas season and what it really is. I went to the Sunday School class and we watched a video on the whole concept. It is going to be exciting to get the Christ back into Christmas.

Thanksgiving Weekend at the Amos House

Well I am going to try to manage 3 blogs....hows that for filling er' up!!!LOL

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at our house yesterday. List: Me (Lynne), Papa (Dick), Dakota, Papa Clouse, Granda, Tessa, Eric, Steve, Lori, Courtney, Rob (Courntey's boyfriend), Malindsa and Taylor. That should be 13.

I fixed a 25 pound Turkey and used the brining reciepe out of last years Martha Stewart Living November magazine at it was devine. Tessa brought our Family cranberry salad and Pillsberry crescent rolls, (and she made her and Erics Garlic mashed potatoes....and I must say they were quite tasty...hardly any leftovers of that). Granda of course brought Barry Manilow Sweet Potatoes circa 1969, and 2 pumkin pies, 1 cherry pie, and 1 pecan pie. Lori brought green bean cassarole and her mothers Pumkin cake recipe....which was wonderful. Malinda brought her.....I don't know what to call it other than AMAZING.. sweet potatoes which we put on the dessert table because that is what it is, a decandent dessert....plus everyone is so full by then it leaves lots of leftovers....

Well this post is going to be continued later this weekend...because I have to get to work.
